No need to promote the idea that he was a hero. There is no doubt he was a criminal. A creative one yes, but still a criminal.
My father actually wore Ned's armour in 1938. He had a school mate whose mother was Isabel Green, secretary to the trustees of the Exhibition Building, The Palais and the Aquarium. Isabel was the sister of Sir Robert Menzies. Max was obviously a bit of a lad (Scallywag).
If Ned Kelly's actions were to happen today, our useless and corrupted Australian government would ban the sale of ploughshares.
He was right
Careful with that 1/4 inch heavy duty steel plate it is more delicate than glass!!😂
My great great great great great great great great ect grandfather was Ned Kelly. My username even has the same last name as proof
I appreciate the historical significance of various items, but Ned Kelly was a murderous, thief - nothing admirable or impressive about that, no matter the motive or circumstance.
The George Hotel was built in 1857. Now fir a 2 bed apartment in it will set you back a cool 2 million dollars.
NED KELLY MANAGED TO BUILD THIS. IN A FIELD! WITH A BUNCH OF SCRAPS!
Imagine the marketing gold mine the companies who made the sheers would have if they were still in business today.
yup when a nation of people believe a murderous criminal is a hero, you know this nation has a problem, probably why so many people blame victims for crimes happening against them, and why so many crims get jokes of prison sentences
This was the closest Australia came to a revolution against the British. I wish more would have been behind him but there was undoubtedly propaganda even back then. Now we have a government completely removed from the people that are literally above the law. It’s impossible to fight against because you have to be a member of their club to make it in politics.
Ned Kelly was a waste
Poor ned.. FTP
What happened to that other members suit
Interesting artifact and historic piece but Kelly is nothing more than a common criminal and cold blooded murderer.
I remember in my child hood I met a kid who's ancestor of Ned kelly's famliy
19th century ironman.
As an Australian, I am embarrassed that Ned Kelly and the family are sensationalized as heroes, when they are nothing more than cop killing thieves
Does State Library Victoria give a shit about male d.v victims?.
Tyranny can make or break man in his efforts to become one.
Ned Kelly’s sister is in my family tree.. but it wasn’t spoken about because of an affair or something like that.. that’s all I know
You haven't found a head in that helmet😂
Australia home of the og killa your welcome for the inspiration tarkov
this tells you something about the full face islam burka, there up to no good :) same design just material instead
they mentioned the 'weight' of it many times but never actually said what was the weight of it!
Lifted it as if its made of Papyrus. Jesus christ. They took more care of this dinted peice of metal but didnt give a shit about the man wearing it. Typical democracy
You killed the guy, then keep his uniform. Fkn sick. Humans are really stupid lmfao.
Who knew a petty crooks armour would end up revered and meticulously maintained, ned would be smirking somewhere calling it a win for the kelly gang
What the Kelly family stands for will never die,is still happening today..oppression
for anyone curious to learn more about this guy, count dankula does a pretty great video on ned kelly in his mad lads series
That helmet inspired alot of letter boxes.
No one apart from Ned’s descendants should be allowed to touch that armour. Not any premier or prime minister or any would be fucking historians Leave this most magnificent man and he’s suit of armour be I have 3 hero’s in my life. My old man one of Australia’s finest commando in ww2 who fought the japs in East Timor. William Wallace and the man himself Ned!!! RIP all 3 of you
‘It looks like it says Lennon and I believe this was the name of the plough company? Well it either says Lennon or it doesn’t and it’s either the name of company or it isn’t? You sound like you’re doubting yourself. I thought being the state library you would have researched this and you’d know for a fact what it says and who made the parts.
Get these women away from my armour
He was just a cop killer and that’s all he was
Must have been incredibly heavy to wear
Ned was a blacksmith and fashioned the armor himself = not a very good or indepth video = just some over stated faked facts = to big note herself ! = what about a REAL VIDEO WITH SOMEONE WHO KNOWS !
Pile of junk
Bloke was a mug ....
Iconic - Symbolic - Heroic - Legend 'he is a superman and you can do nothing ....'
This video could be a lot shorter.
It's good to see Ned was into repurposing old products.
For a country that worships government so much I'm surprised when the Ned Kelly's and the Chopper Reid's become folk heroes
He was certainly a tough man and excellent bushman as were all the members of the Kelly gang I have read many books and literature about him. In the bigger picture he was. criminal but one has to look at the times when he lived, being Irish he/they were looked down upon as just trash. That combined with a corrupt police force as it was proven in a later Corruption Inquiry, being poor you didn't stand a chance.
A Truly Fascinating piece of Australiana 🇦🇺👍
This is a good reminder of how the police have been corrupt cowards since the very beginning
This man's spirit came from Ireland, but born down under. I wish more of us Aussies would be as brave as this man than maybe we could become a Republic. But happy Birthday King Charles whoever you are
You wonder if the Wild West in America back then, heard of a outlaw wearing armour, imagine their reactions
State Library Victoria's Conservation Manager of pussyfication....
